my hero

the other weekend we went to the victor wooten show at the depot. amazing. he always inspires me to get out my bass guitar and play. however, due to my laziness, it has yet to happen. hopefully by reminiscing i can be reinspired. i feel a little connected with him because we saw him and his family walking around at bonnaroo last year, and we took annie to meet him and his cute kids. one of these days i'll dust off the bass and start practicing.

annie: "mahhm"

me: "what?"

annie: "maahhm"

annie: "maaahhhm"

me: "annie"

annie: "what?"

are you kidding?

i was reading an article (or i guess i glanced at the article) about children self-weaning from breast feeding until i saw this quote in the first paragraph.

"Somewhere between the ages of two-and-a-half to four years, the child will begin to ask to nurse less and less often, gradually tapering off over a period of months until they are completely weaned."

i didn't feel the need to finish the article. i am not that dedicated a mother, but if emily will be pumping anyway...maybe she can save my children from the damaging effects of real food and pump a little extra.

suggestions please

a couple of music items of business:
  • the other month for our ward talent show i performed wilco's "im always in love". i need some new songs to work on, but i'm not sure what to learn since i've been kind of a music slacker lately and i mostly listen to the radio or nursery rhymes. "old mcdonald" or crappy radio "hits" just don't motivate me to practice the guitar. so any suggestions would be appreciated.
  • also, any good songs for exercising (for when i eventually decide to go work out). i've been trying to make a playlist on my ipod, but could use some suggestions.

thanks

trying's for losers

yesterday a kid came to the door selling magazing subscriptions to pay for college. he was nice and friendly as long as i acted interested in what he was saying, however as soon as i informed him that i wasn't ready to part with $50 for a 2 year magazine subscription that i didn't want but thanks for trying, he said "trying's for losers, i'm a winner" and walked off. excuse me buddycakes, but don't give me attitude when you come bug me at my house and interrupt me from my game of freecell or whatever i was doing and then i don't buy something. he didn't even have national geographic.
